Position: Seasonal Cashier

Sawyer Home & Garden Center is now seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals for our cashier positions! If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy providing excellent customer service – a seasonal position at SGC may be a great fit for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cheerfully greeting & assisting customers with store information, details on products and services, and answering customer questions both in person & over the phone in a professional manner.
  • Accurately process payments following SGC procedures, issue refunds, & handle customer accounts with care.
  • Bagging, boxing, wrapping merchandise etc. Offering carry-out assistance to customers as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized & safe work environment.
  • Cross-train in different departments to support our team as needed.
  • Keep shelves stocked, products priced & displays looking clean & organized.
  • Price products, ensuring quantities and prices are correct.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment indoors & outdoors.
  • Prior retail sales/ cash handling experience is a plus!
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment – completing tasks that can be strenuous in nature – standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, traversing uneven surfaces and pushing/pulling carts unassisted.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service, showing up each day with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Available on weekends and holidays. Seasonal position, our hours of operation are 9AM-7PM daily.

  • Strong ability to multitask in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency while staying comfortable in a fast-paced setting involving many people while keeping up a team oriented personal attitude.
  • Adaptable to changing tasks, willing to learn about new products.
  • High attention to detail. Strong time-management skills.
  • Punctual, dependable, positive & resilient.
